Reliable calling cards from Dominica As a continuation of the successful Meridian 2005 Conference held in London last October, Meridian
2006 will provide a unique opportunity to discuss how Governments can work together to protect
critical infrastructures. It explores the benefits and opportunities of cooperation between government
and the private sector, and among governments internationally, as well as best practices from around
the world. Confronted with the diverse range of issues arising from globalization, participating states
find these considerations essential in developing national policies for the protection of critical services
and the underlying information infrastructure, and for managing international dependencies.
The atmosphere of the first Meridian conference will be preserved, and the same confidential
environment will be created to encourage open discussion between government representatives without
concerns about the press or pressure from industry.
The Theodore Puskas Foundation (PTA) in association with the Hungarian Ministry of Informatics and
Communications (IHM) is pleased to take up the organizatory work of Meridian 2006 to bring together
Government delegations wishing to make the right connections to help protect their Critical
Information Infrastructures.
The organization of the conference is supervised by a Steering Committee consisting of representatives
from the UK (NISCC), the USA (DHS), Sweden (SEMA), the Netherlands (Ministry of the Interior and
Kingdom Relations), as well as Malaysia (MCMC), and ENISA.
Meridian 2006 will take forward the work begun in London, and will aim to extend the awareness of
the importance of CIIP to more countries and develop it more deeply and widely within those already
engaged. Hungary will take up the role of Meridian chairmanship for 2006-2007 from the UK
regarding conference issues, before taking Meridian Conferences forward to Sweden in 2007 and
beyond.
On behalf of the organizers, we are looking forward to welcome you in Budapest!
